Rain or Shine: Trolley Run 2024 Recap

Although the morning started out cold and rainy, when all our supporters showed up for the 36th Annual CCVI Trolley Run, we created our own sunshine! If there is one thing that truly captures the essence of Trolley Run, it is its people. The event was a testament to the village it takes to lift up a child with a visual impairment and once again proved that it is possible for our students to cross the finish line of their highest potential.

With over 60 Family Teams, our largest total since before the pandemic, we raised over $57,000 in donations alone! Nearly 4,000 participants supported us this year, with 1,172 new participants joining us in our mission. Thanks to the amazing support of our runners, Family Teams, and sponsors we raised over $275,000 for our students and families at CCVI.

The sunshine doesn’t stop there! This year at our annual post-race block party, After Bash, we partnered with over 20 other empowerment agencies to further build our community and support our families!

“We work really hard during the year navigating and learning more about her vision and diagnosis and every time we cross that finish line together, it’s just an amazing accomplishment!”

- Johanna Hernandez, Bella’s mom (The Bella Crew, alumni)

The sunshine created by our staff, volunteers, vendors and sponsors truly made this Trolley Run one to remember! So many individuals went the extra mile to go above and beyond for our families and runners, it was a true testament to the commitment and generosity of the Kansas City community!

We couldn’t be more thankful for the people who showed up not just momentarily to support us for the day, but for supporting our lifetime mission of preparing children with visual impairments to reach their highest potential in the sighted world!

We will see everyone next year on April 27th, 2025!
