Reach for Kids

Reach for Kids, formerly Children's Benefits Service for Families (CBSF) was the outgrowth in 1995 of a unique collaboration of the following providers who serve children with special needs: CCVI, Children's Mercy Hospital, Children's TLC, Cradles & Crayons, Rainbow Center for Communicative Disorders, Sunshine Center and United Cerebral Palsy.

The mission of Reach for Kids, a tax-exempt not-for-profit organization, is to empower families of children with special needs to access appropriate health and related benefits for their children. Reach for Kids provides services directly to families on a case-by-case basis. It also works with families to promote systemic change.

Adventure Fitness

The Adventure Fitness Club uses Camp Fire programming to provide opportunities for physical fitness, recreation, and life skills development for young people with disabilities. The Club presently involves Greater Kansas City area members, ages three to 18, who are blind or visually impaired. Many of the adult leaders and mentors associated with the Club are themselves blind.

Club activities have included such adventures as swimming, scuba diving, running, skiing, roller skating, karate, dance, pottery, drama, gymnastics, sailing, rock-climbing, horseback riding, camping and back-packing.
